"I was inspired to make this piece based on the pandemic."
Considering we are going through a pandemic, it is a hard task to remain calm. Being alone with our thoughts makes quarantine days feel both infinite and vanishing at the same time. We think about the uncertainty of the future, about our (not so) old daily routines which now feel so distant, and of course, about our loved ones.
Laura Courteau is a 17-year-old French/Haitian artist. Even though her piece is personal, the meaning behind it speaks for a lot of us.
"The piece is a portrait of my grandfather from the last time I saw him. I was inspired to make this piece based on the pandemic. The current situation has made me afraid for his health as he is part of the elderly community and closer to him as we communicate more than we did before." - Laura Courteau (@c0urteau)
